We all feel betrayed. But we must also admit Nokia was in a corner and MeeGo wasn’t ready. I think they could have bet on Maemo, but they killed it already.

Anyway, where else could have they gone? Android? Wait again ?
I understand all the sadness though…this decision was totally against OSS. They’ll still “experiment” with it, but it’s very little after they’ve been experimenting with it from 2005.

I admit to sharing your feelings, Uwe… but for now I’m going to wait and see how serious Intel is about MeeGo. There may be some hope yet for open-sourced mobility…

I’m afraid I share the negative feelings about the future of Qt. Sure, it will remain an important tool in the GNU/Linux based desktop world (as it was before Nokia made it the mobile umbrella-toolkit)… but that’s a niche. Being on the desktop and on millions of phones would have been mass market. That was the bright future for Qt… and for Qt developers. If you concentrate on Qt now, what will you do on 3 years time with these skills? (Except, of course, if by some unexpected turn of fate MeeGo really, really takes without Nokia – which is what I still hope for, no matter how unlikely it may be.)

yes we all had a good time in Dublin. Maybe we will see each other in August inn Berlin at the Desktop Summit?

Regarding QT I don’t see a chance for it to play a role on mobile devices after this announcement.

Hi Uwe,

I am Ben. I have met you during the MeeGo conference.

It is a sad day for us. I can’t believe the management of Nokia is so stupid to make this decision. Just like what you said, Nokia will end up as a hardware partner like Samsung and HTC only. And as they have also cut the R&D engineers, it won’t able to make any cutting edge devices.

However, Qt is not dead. It is a open source project and many developers are using it. And I think they would like to contribute and maintain it. Moreover, Intel and Ubuntu should be interested to engage for further development.

Hope that we will have chance to meet again in other event

Kann mir einer von euch sagen, ob man mit dem nokia oder mit einem anderen tablet, mit dem man auch telefonieren kann, auch voip machen kann? Ich bin von voip begeistert und von tablet pcs auch, aber geht es auch beides zusammen?

Hab’s dann doch noch geschafft. Man muss wohl rsync erst im xterm starten und dann den Zugriff bestätigen. Dies wird dann registriert und ist später nicht mehr nötig.
In Grsync gibt es die Möglichkeit der Zugriffsbestätigung nicht und deswegen kommt dann wohl die Fehlermeldung.

Wie gesagt, ich kenn mich da nicht so aus und vielleicht ist meine Erklärung auch falsch. Aber bei mir klappt’s jetzt und das find ich klasse!

ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/bin/ssh-askpass): no such file or directory
Host key verification failed.

Kannst du hier bitte die genaue Befehlszeile angeben (sofern das Problem noch besteht)? Ich habe rsync gerade erst wieder problemlos aus xterm heraus genutzt.

Ich bekomme beim Probebetrieb im Xterm immer folgende Fehlermeldung:

ssh: Could not resolve hostname rsync.hidrive.strato.com: Temorary failure in name resolution
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed
…

Von meinem Ubuntu System auf dem Desktop aus läuft alles prima.

Hallo enendi, eine Nutzung via Putty, xterm & Co. ist nicht möglich. Allerdings hatte ich es vor einiger Zeit zumindest geschafft unter Ubuntu via SSHfs auf einen HiDrive-Account zuzugreifen. Aus zeitlichen Gründen konnte ich es noch nicht wieder probieren. Zum selbst probieren sollte dieser Artikel eine gute Ausgangsbasis bilden:

vielen Dank für die Anleitung, aber ich hätte mal eine triviale Frage: Kann ich mich denn via SSH mit HiDrive verbinden? Also, alá ssh user@hidrive.strato.com über putty oder Konsole?
In den üblichen Anleitungen habe ich nichts gefunden.

Hallo Jakob, die Frage nach dem Passwort kann zwei Ursachen haben:

1. Du hast Dich beim eingeben des Pfades zum Schlüssel verschrieben. In meinem Beipiel ist es: /home/user/.ssh/rsynckey
In diesem Fall wird serverseitig auf “Anmeldung per Benutzername und Passwort” umgeschaltet und Du wirst nach dem Passwort gefragt.

2. Beim Erzeugen des Keys hast du ein Passwort für den Schlüssel vergeben. Dieses muss immer dann eingegeben werden, wenn du mit diesem Schlüssel arbeiten möchtest. In Scripten ist dies natürlich nicht erwünscht, weshalb ich kein Passwort vergeben habe.

Ich hoffe das Hilft weiter?
